Donnerhall scored 131.92 to be second in his performance test at Adelheidsdorf in 1984.  He and his rider Karin Rehbein became a legendary pair at Grand Prix.  In 1994, Donnerhall was individual bronze medalist and team gold medalist at the 1994 World Championships at The Hague, and he won the European World Cup Freestyle League final standings in 1997 and 1998. He is known to pass on his strength for collection and trainability, and has produced numerous champion sons including Don Primero, Don Schufro (Grandsire of Canaan Ranch’s Donates), Davignon, De Niro, Dream of Glory and Del Piero.  Additionally, he has produced super talented mares such as High Noon and Dona Carrera.

At the 1998 World Championships in Rome, Karin Rehbein and the meanwhile 17-year old stallion were once more part of the German gold medal team and gained an excellent fourth place in the individual rating. His sporting successes, substantiated by his life winnings of around DM 640,000 are no less significant than his importance as a hereditary transmitter. His breeding tally includes 77 approved sons, while of the more than 450 registered mares, 84 were awarded the state premium, including the champion mares Primavera and Hallo. In excess of 300 progeny have moreover been registered as sports horses.
